In an interview with the media, the president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, said that the talks he would have with the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo would not yield anything, after they had talked many times in the past but had no results.
In that interview with Jeune Afrique, President Kagamne focused on many different issues including insecurity in eastern Congo.
“Can a person who refuses to talk to his people talk to me? Wouldn’t that be amazing?” President Kagame said.
“I always wanted to talk to him , although we have talked a lot in the past, but the problems we have today are the heart of what we talked about. Would talking to each other today solve our problems or should we talk because there is a real chance of solving the problem? ”. He added
The relationship between Rwanda and DRC started to deteriorate since this country accused Rwanda of supporting M23, while Rwanda also accused DRC of supporting the FDLR rebel group formed by those who committed genocide against Tutsis in 1994.
