Martin Fayulu, a politician who is opposed to the Kinshasa Government, said that the armed groups are not only a threat to the security of the Congolese but also the government forces.
In a recent statement addressed to the nation, Martin Fayulu expressed his indignation at this violence, stressing that this time, it is not only the armed groups who are involved, but also the soldiers of the Republican guard. “The Congolese people are in mortal danger,” he warned.
On Wednesday, August 30, the Congolese people witnessed shocking atrocities in Goma, where peaceful protests were violently repressed, causing the tragic loss of many lives. Fayulu strongly condemned these acts of violence, declaring that “Wednesday August 30, 2023 is a day we will never forget.”
The declared candidate for the next presidential election in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Martin Fayulu, has launched an urgent appeal to the international community for a new peace mission in the country, following the recent tragic events in Goma and in surrounding regions.
Fayulu called on the United Nations Security Council to take strong measures to restore peace in the DRC. He insisted on the need to withdraw the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in Congo (MONUSCO) and replace it with a new mission equipped with combat forces. The proposal comes as the Congolese government recently requested an early withdrawal from MONUSCO, a request that raises concerns about security and stability in the region.
