Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR) militia have appointed Maj. Gen Pacifique Ntawunguka to replace Lt. Gen Sylvestre Mudacumura who has been killed by the Congolese army in an operation on Tuesday.
According to our sources, Ntawunguka was enthroned on Friday at round 11:00 a.m local time.
The development came as FDLR is splitting due to the sudden death of its former commander.
Sources close to the militia new commander revealed to this website that the later occupies a very big number of the FDLR fighters due to the following three reasons:
- The fact that a big number of fighters that FDLR/FOCA relies on was trained by Maj. Gen Ntawunguka together with his comrade Gaston Iyamuremye who is also known as Rumuli.
- The fact that big number of officers that the militia group remains with originate in the former Mukingo Commune; where Gen. Ntawunguka also has roots, this is while the later puts forward divisionism in all his endeavors.
- The fact that fighters FDLR remains with are reluctant to keep fighting as they are fed up with the miserable life they live in whereby they need auspices from the wealthy Gen Ntawunguka.
FDLR is mainly made of the remnants of the former Rwandan government forces and Interahamwe militia accused of committing atrocities in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
