The M23 military spokesman, Maj Willy Ngoma, strongly Condermns the recent return of the Mushake area to the FARDC control.
In an interview with Rwanda tribune.com, Maj Willy Ngoma, said that the fact that the Burundian Army agreed to return Mushaki area to the FARDC’s control , is contraly to the Luanda agreement and that M23 will not continue to tolerate it.
“We have left the Mushaki area under the control of the EAC forces. The fact that the Burundian Army allows the State force( FARDC )to regain control of the area, is contrary to the decisions of Luanda and we will not continue to watch. He said
“Wait and see how we are going to react. He added
The area of Mushaki, was occupied by the M23 group at the beginning of this year, but was later left under the control of the Burundian Army, which is part of the EAC mission to restore peace and security in eastern DRC.
M23 agreed to withdraw from this area, to comply with the decisions of Luanda and Nairobi made by the Heads of states in the region.
According to Luanda agreement, the areas that M23 left under the control of the EAC forces, should not return to the State forces contrrol, before talks are held between this rebel group and Kinshasa.
After months M23 left the area of Mushaki under the control of the EAC forces, these forces have now returned it to the control of the state forces, Something that could lead to further fighting between the FARDC and the M23 rebels.
