The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Christophe Lutundula, recently spoke on Top Congo FM to address the tense situation in Bunagana.

He warned the M23 rebel group that it will be forced to leave the region by force if necessary. This statement comes against a backdrop of regional tensions and persistent violence in parts of eastern DRC.

“From September 24, 2023, if the M23 does not leave Bunagana, it will be forced to do so by force. We will do everything and we are loans.” This statement leaves no room for ambiguity and demonstrates the DRC’s desire to put an end to the M23S  activities  in the region. Christophe Lutundula declared.

Christophe Lutundula’s statement on Top Congo FM, clearly underlines the position of the Congolese government towards the M23 . If the rebel group does not withdraw from Bunagana voluntarily, it will be forced by force.
