In the North Kivu province , serious fighting has again broken out between the M23 rebels and other State-backed rebel groups such as FDLR, Nyatura and Mai Mai .
It is said that The fighting started when the M23 wanted to establish new bases in Tongo area, yesterday on the 14 September 2023.
The fighting has been ongoing in Rushovu and Rushenge areas in Rutshuru territory today on the 15 September , 2023, where it is said that M23, managed to defeat these rebels and make them flee from these areas.
The Wazalendo consist of FDLR rebels, Nyatura and Mai Mai , have reported that their retreat from these areas
is based on avoiding excessive blood loss.
According to the Rwandatribune’s sorce located in Tongo territory, the statement of these Wazalendo rebel groups, is not based on truth but rather they were defeated by M23, which makes them to withraw from these areas.
