FARDC to free FDLR fighters detained for war crimes

The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo has begun releasing FDLR fighters detained in various prisons in the whole country on the charges of war crimes and rape.

FDLR fighters who had been detained including Maj Sabimana Iraguha alias  Mugisha Vainqueur, Major Kizito and Enock whom he is the Commissioner in FDLR Presidency were among others.

The release of these militants is part of an agreement reached in Pinga between the FDLR / FOCA and the FARDC.

The Rwandatribune informer in Munzenze region, Goma, where the military intelligence service custody is located, said it had been informed by one of the lieutenant in the T2 Military Intelligence Service that they had been instructed to select FDLR, RUD URUNANA and FLN fighters to be released.

Major Vainqueur, Major Kizito, Maj Lugasi and Enock who had been detained in Makala Prison were on the list.

“This was done in order to implement the Congolese government’s agreement with the FDLR in Pinga” Informer added.

FDLR asked Congolese government releasing their prisoners of war and Cutting diplomatic ties with Rwandan government.

Neither the Congolese government nor the FDLR confirmed this information at the time of Publishing this article.
