One of Mai Mai’s fighters with the rank of major along with other FDLR’s fighters, were killed in the fighting with the M23 rebel group in Nturo area , Masisi territory.
Eyewitnesses say that on Sunday 1 October , 2023, FDLR rebels together with Mai Mai CMC/FDP, Mai Mai Defendeur/FDDP, launched an attack on M23 rebels’s position.
This information has been confirmed by the people living in the area including one who spoke to Rwandatribune but did not want his name to be published for security reasons.
“What happened at Nturo was terrible. We saw Lt. Noheri from FDLR and about two hundred soldiers, including the Mai Mai and FDLR fighters who came from Kagusa. We just don’t believe that it will be perfect because it is said that the government forces want to return here to Nturo. eyeswetness spoke to Rwandatribune.com
“after the fighting ,we found the bodies of four fighters belonging to the Wazalendo and FDLR groups who died in the fighting with M23, including one with the rank of Major from the Mai Mai group”. He added
One of the humanitarian organization’s worker (Red-Cross) or (CROIX ROUGE), who did not want his name to be published, confirmed that on Monday, 2 October , 2023, they arrived at the scene of the fighting and helped the people to bury four FDLR fighters along with Maj. Blaise from Mai Mai Defender/FDDP, who was killed by M23 in the fighting.
