A new armed group supported by the government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, issued an official statement this Saturday, saying that it is called the UFPC (Union of Patriotic Forces of the Congo).
This armed group which consists mainly of young people from the Nyiragongo teritory near Goma, said that it is going to support the state forces (FARDC) due to the fact that it was attacked by Rwanda on the Congolese territory.
“We are a group of youth from Nyiragongo based on patriotism, because we have been affected by wars organized by neighboring countries in this region especially Rwanda. It happened in front of our eyes. The UFPC’s spokesperson Muhabuta Nicolas said.
“The M23 rebel group has been used by Rwanda, so the youth want to participate in this war .” He added
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, armed groups continue to emerge under the control of the government army (FARDC) , to fight Rwanda as a result of their government’s accusations that Rwanda supports M23 rebels. All these groups are formed into a group called Wazalendo which they call patriots.
In recent days, the president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Felix Tshisekedi, told the press that he is ready to attack Rwanda.
He said this as he used to say whenever he was asked how he manages the security of the congolese people ,then in a misleading way ,he accused Rwanda of being the one that prevents his country from security.
