As elections approach, it is common for political parties to announce their candidates  and that other people who wish to campaign personally also announce their candidacy as well.

President Kagame announced that he was pleased with the confidence that Rwandans continue to have in him and that he would serve them to the best of his ability, and also noted that he was a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections of the nation.

In this year  2023, two candidates have already announced that they will present their candidacy in the elections which will be held next year in 2024. These candidates are Kagame Paul from RPF and Dr Frank Habineza from the Democratic  Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR).

The Head of State, responded in an interview with Jeune Afrique, when asked if he had been re-elected as the Chairman  of the FPR Inkotanyi with 99.8% of the votes, without confirming that he will represent this organization again in the elections at the head of the FPR Inkotanyi.
