The Congolese army accuses M23 of wanting to take over the city of Goma

In a statement released by the Congolese army on Monday night,  says that the M23 group tried to set up a camp on the slopes of the Kanyamahoro mountains near Kibumba on the outskirts of the city of Goma, and that they went beyond the usual camp of African Union troops .

The Congolese army, said that together with the East African Community, they  managed to  put pressure on the M23’s rebels and prevented them from  crossing that area.

Lt. Col Guillaume Ndjike, Spokesperson for the Governor of North Kivu Province, said that the congolese army consider this M23’s action a provocation  as well as calling for the International Committee  and East Africa leaders  , to prepare for the consequences.

“FARDC is ready to confront the M23 group at any time. He said

A few days ago, the Congolese army in North Kivu ,announced that they arrested people with Congolese electoral cards, suspecting them to be Rwandan spies.

So far, the M23 movement has not announced anything about the new Congolese allegations.
