On social networks in DRC, several Internet users are making comments going so far as to assert that the former Tanzanian President would be a facilitator of discussions between the Head of State and his predecessor, former President Joseph Kabila.
“President Kikwete came to consult the President of the Republic about the SADC force which is to come to the DRC. He did not come for any negotiation between the head of state and Joseph Kabila . He would have come to join the President of the Republic in Goma or elsewhere. We must therefore not listen to the rumors spread on the web,” Minister Patrick Muyaya, government spokesperson, declared in Lubumbashi during the press briefing.
Facing the destabilization of its eastern part by the activism of local and foreign armed groups, the DRC requested military support from its SADC partners.
