Major Nsanzimana Innocent alias Yefuta of FDLR group was shot dead in crush between FARDC-FDLR forces and M 23 militiamen in Bugusa.
News was confirmed by a civil society official from Jomba Group, Rutshuru Territory in an exclusive interview with Rwandatribune.
The official whose name was not published also said that when the fighting escalated at 2:00 am on this Monday, the people were joined the Royal army in burying these victims.
“We saw him dead, Maj Yefuta was well known in these Region” Informer added.
In a statement issued by the FARDC, Gen Sylvain Ekenge, a spokesperson for the Governor of North Kivu, confirmed that the FARDC had lost two soldiers and five were injured during last night crush.
Major Yefuta’s death comes as a clear indicator of the alliance between the FARDC and the FDLR ,Armed group dominated by the perpetrators of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.
In an interview with Voice of America, Foreign Affairs Minister Christophe Lutundula confirmed that the last FDLR’s fighter was killed by the Rwandan Army [RDF] in 2009.
Who is Major Yefuta?
Maj Nsanzimana Innocent alias Yefuta joined the ESO (Ecole des Sous Officiers.) in 1990 [Butare ].
When the EX-FAR were defeated, Yefuta fled to Zaire.
Maj Yefuta has been OMEGA’s secretary since 2011 while he was commander of the Nord sector Operations until he became Lt Gen Mudacumura’s deputy chief of staff.
In 2018 Gen Omega was banned him from marrying his fiancée, he quarreled with him and reported immediately to Lt Gen Mudacumura.
Gen Mudacumura tasked Maj Yefuta to led one Company of CANAAN Battalions later became JÉRICHO.
Maj Yefuta was currently Commander of Abazungu Battalion of FDLR operating in the Masisi Territory.
