Reports indicate that seven white mercenaries from Romania may have been taken hostage by the M23 rebel group, which is now preparing to present them to the media.
Sources from Rwandatribune, stationed in the Bweramana area near Sake town, reveal that the Romanian mercenaries were captured by M23 during the recent clashes on the mountains surrounding Sake.
The Romanian mercenaries were reportedly captured at different times; some were seized in the Kirupo area, while others were caught in parts of Bweramana. A member of M23, who wished to remain anonymous, informed Rwandatribune’s source in Mugunga that the M23 is ready to release details about the captured fighters.
Bweramana is located in Mufunyi Shanga group, in Masisi Territory, and is situated on the ridges of Sake. This area has long been a battleground, but no independent party has confirmed the capture of these mercenaries yet.
